Here’s what we sang this morning at Friendship Church as we got a little weird with a new series from Craig Groeschel:

Since becoming a father, creative arts pastor, and growing as an artist over the past couple of years, I’ve had a pretty weighty thought on my mind constantly. I learned from Andy Stanley years ago that you always need to replace yourself. This task is both humbling and daunting. In thinking on it especially over the last few months I realize that replacing myself is less about just “my position or unique role”, and more about building and growing up others around me to be great in the same field(s).
I want to grow young artist to create things that we have never seen before that honors the Lord in ways that only HE can imagine.
Who are you growing today?
In January of this year we launched our full-scale creative department, Friendship Creative. Since that time we have grown the number of creatives by over 30% and have seen win after win in our experiences as we set the table for God to move in the hearts of people. We’ve hosted our first creative night and a few workshops as well.
Friendship Creative is growing, fast.
So, on June 18th we will be launching a fully functioning website, FriendshipCreative.com, with lots of great blog content, social media, and resources to unite and equip a creative community. Mark your calendars and stay tuned to our Twitter & Facebook for updates:
For this series we wanted to do something really special for the video bumper. The video bumper is what set’s up the main talk for the day. The artwork for this series was so fun and playful, that we thought it would be fantastic to to create a stop motion bumper.
First, we brainstormed what we wanted it to look like, and then we wrote out what our little stick figure would encounter on his journey:
From there, our amazing creative team animated our scene and cast, then took over 100 pictures to moving the scenes inch-by-inch.
We then decided on the speed/pace that we wanted our video to run at (180 beats per minute or 3 frames per second). Added our music and the series graphic at the end, and here’s what we ended up with:
A HUGE morning at Friendship Church and for Friendship Creative. We kicked off our series, “Potential Me”, with switching permanently to two service times. We also released a few new videos created by Friendship Creative. More on the videos later this week on the blog. Until then, here’s what we sang (twice!) this morning to celebrate Easter 2012:
